GAINESVILLE

   FRIENDS

OF JAZZ     Message from the President

Welcome to our 2007-08 Concert Series as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary Season.

In 1983, ten forward thinking jazz musicians and enthusiasts organized our jazz society.  Chartered by the founders as a 501(c)(3) not for profit corporation, the mission established for Gainesville Friends of Jazz has been to support, promote and increase public awareness, interest, participation and education in jazz, America’s music.

We have grown considerably, from our early beginnings with jazz at the Thomas Center to our present day ever increasingly popular concert series at the Savannah Grande Reception Hall in historic downtown Gainesville.  During this period, we have featured some of the best established talent on the jazz scene and rising stars of the next generation of jazz musicians.

This season, Gainesville Friends of Jazz offers 11 diverse concerts at the Savannah Grande Reception Hall featuring encore performances by some of the most outstanding musicians that have performed for us during the past 25 years.  The artists performing at our concerts include some of the finest jazz musicians playing today.

Also, join us the first Monday of the second month of each quarter (February, May, August & November) for our jazz jam at Leonardo's 706 in midtown Gainesville.

In addition, we are extremely excited to present, along with Presenting Sponsor Morgan Stanley, the 6th Annual Gainesville Jazz Festival.

As you make plans for your cultural calendar, be sure to circle the Gainesville Friends of Jazz concert dates.  These concerts are part of our commitment to you our loyal patrons, to continue bringing outstanding live jazz performances to our community. Thank you for your continued patronage and support of jazz, America’s music.

Until next time, Keep Jazzin’ It Up !

Sincerely,

Scott
