Gainesville Friends of Jazz proudly presents the Allan Vache Quartet. They will be performing on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship located at 4225 Northwest 34th Street in Gainesville. Scott Koons, President of Gainesville Friends of Jazz, is the producer for the concert. Allan Vache, on clarinet, is a veteran of the Jim Cullum Jazz Band of San Antonio. He has toured in Asia, Australia, Europe, South America and throughout the U.S., including performances at Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Allan has several recordings as a soloist on the Arbors, Audiophile, Chesky and Nagel-Heyer labels. He has performed with such jazz greats as Benny Carter, Herb Ellis, Pete Fountain, Benny Goodman, Bob Haggart, Scott Hamilton, Lionel Hampton, Jake Hanna, Milt Hinton, Dick Hyman, Gene Krupa, Bucky Pizzarelli, Clark Terry, Bob Wilber, and Teddy Wilson. Jeff Phillips, on piano, began playing music at six years of age. His style has been influenced by three giants of piano jazz, Bill Evans, Erroll Garner and Oscar Peterson. Jeff has performed with such jazz artists as Bill Allred, Louie Bellson, Buddy DeFranco, Bob Mintzer and Clark Terry.Charlie Silva, on bass, has appeared with numerous jazz artists and ensembles. He spent several years performing for the Disney corporation at Disneyland in Anaheim. Today, he is an in demand jazz bassist playing throughout the Central Florida area. Ed Metz, Jr., on drums, began his professional musical career at the age of 12. Ed is a graduate of the acclaimed Jazz Studies program at William Paterson University. He has performed with the Count Basie Orchestra, Chick Corea, Scott Hamilton, the Woody Herman Orchestra, Milt Hinton, Arturo Sandoval and Clark Terry.
